GreenPower- Week One
It has been a very exciting week in Class 4. We have started our ‘GreenPower’ journey.
Excitingly, we have decided on the themes for our cars (Postman Pat’s Van and a Surfer Camper Van). During the session we acquired many new skills and had lots of fun too!
Place Value to 20
In maths Year 1 have been learning all about the teen numbers and today in pairs we represented the numbers 17, 18 and 19 on the tens frames and worked out how many tens and ones each number had.
United Kingdom - London
In geography we have been learning all about the United Kindom and in English we have been basing our writing on the story ‘Katie in London, by James Mayhew. Today we combined our prior knowledge from both subjects and created some fantastic posters about London.
Dodgeball Tournament
We had a fantastic time taking part in our TSSMAT dodgeball tournement today. We all tried our hardest and worked brilliantly with our teams. Thank you to Mr Challinor for organising the event - we can't wait for the next one!
Exploring ice!

Getting to know our new friends!
We have welcomed some new pre-nursery and nursery friends into school this week. We have been getting to know each other by drawing things we like and sharing these things with our friends. We have been very kind and helpful to each other. We have also used super manners. Well done class one!
We are journalists!
In English, we have been learning about the key features of journalistic writing. We did lots of research on the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull in 2010 and then used our knowledge of journalistic writing to write our own newspaper reports. We are so pleased with how they turned out!

Today in maths Year 1 have been sorting 2D shapes according to their properties. The children worked as a team to sort the shapes into triangles, squares, rectangles and circles.
