At all schools within The Small Schools Multi Academy Trust, all pupils are taught music in a safe, supportive and enthusiastic environment.
Through listening, appraising, exploring and creating and with hands on approach, music lessons aim to inspire pupils to engage with music in a fun and exciting way.
With guidance and sensitivity, pupils are encouraged to respect music whatever its style, genre or cultural background.
We provide the pupils with many opportunities to engage with music other than in the classroom. Music is part of whole school life, with pupils able to access instrumental lessons as well as take part in choirs and other ensembles. Music education is enhanced by visiting musicians and visits to concerts outside of the academy.
All pupils have a weekly music lesson involving a warm up activity and singing. As well as studying music theory, the lessons will include topics focusing on the history of music, famous composers and musicians and music from other times, places, styles and cultures. By the end of year 6, all pupils will have experienced learning to play an instrument.
With high expectations and opportunities that create exciting and happy memories, our academy aims to equip our pupils with the tools and experiences that will allow them to go on enjoying music throughout their lives.
