Welcome to Class 2
In Class 2 we think that learning should be exciting, creative and engaging. We look for opportunities to grow as independent learners and critical thinkers. Our subjects are taught discretely but we look for links between topics where possible. We believe that sharing ideas and working together develops our ability to reflect on our learning. We view mistakes as opportunities to grow in both confidence and resilience, helping us to fly like eagles. In Class 2, we take every opportunity to use our wonderful outdoor area to enrich our learning. Alongside this, we aim to spend one lesson a week learning practical, outdoor skills and one lesson a week with Georgia taking part in dance and drama lessons. We are also very lucky to be having cookery lessons with our school chef this academic year.
We will be following White Rose Maths again this year. They have now teamed up with Morrisons to provide FREE parent workbooks. The workbooks can also be accessed via this link: https://whiterosemaths.com/for-parents/parent-workbooks/ Answers to the workbooks can be found here: https://whiterosemaths.com/morrisons/
If you would like to follow our scheme at home to support your child further with maths, here is an overview of the units we cover throughout the year:
In the mornings, our learning focuses on the Key Stage 1 core curriculum subjects. We take part in a range of independent and group activities focusing on reading, writing and mathematics. In the afternoons, we focus on science and the Key Stage 1 foundation subjects. Often, subjects are linked together to enhance cross-curricular learning. French, Music, dance and drama, forest school, cookery and PE are taught by specialist teachers who visit our class once a week. Learning is enhanced using continuous provision is our outdoor area.
Please see below for subject knowledge mats and an example of our weekly timetable.
