Welcome to Class 2

In Class 2 we think that learning should be exciting, creative and engaging. We look for opportunities to grow as independent learners and critical thinkers. Our subjects are taught discretely but we look for links between topics where possible. We believe that sharing ideas and working together develops our ability to reflect on our learning. We view mistakes as opportunities to grow in both confidence and resilience, helping us to fly like eagles.  In Class 2, we take every opportunity to use our wonderful outdoor area to enrich our learning. Alongside this, we aim to spend one lesson a week learning practical, outdoor skills and one lesson a week taking part in dance and drama lessons.

Our Day

In the mornings, our learning focuses on the Key Stage 1 core curriculum subjects. We take part in a range of independent and group activities focusing on reading, writing and mathematics.  In the afternoons, we focus on science and the Key Stage 1 foundation subjects. Often, subjects are linked together to enhance cross-curricular learning. French, Music, dance and drama, forest school and PE are taught by specialist teachers who visit our class once a week. Learning is enhanced using continuous provision is our outdoor area.

Please arrive in PE kits on Mondays and Tuesdays. Please have outdoor learning kits, wellies and/or spare trainers in school all the time. We will be using our outdoor areas all year so children will need suitable clothing.
