Class 3

We had so much fun in PE today. We used our compasses and maps to find the 9 control points. Our winning team completed the course in just under 8 minutes!
 

We had a fantastic time at Wall Roman Site today. We learnt about the discovery of the site, what it would have been during the Roman times and also got to handle some Roman artefacts!

Our new PE topic is orienteering. We spent some time familiarising ourselves with compass directions and creating our own maps of the school grounds. We were curious about how a compass works so we learnt more about the earth’s magnetic field and even made our own compass in class!

In RE, we have been learning about Sikhism. We have learnt about langar - the community kitchen of a gurdwara - which serves meals to all free of charge, regardless of religion. Mrs Smith very kindly made us some karah parshad which is a sweet pudding usually given as a holy blessing after a…

As part of our Lunar New Year celebrations, we made tangrams in maths. They were a lot trickier than they look but we enjoyed the challenge!
 

In maths today we have been looking at vertical lines of symmetry. Today we painted half of a butterfly and folded it over to support our understanding of what the symmetrical means.

We had great fun making and using string telephones in science this week. We learnt about how sound travels and about how sound is measured (decibels).

We had an amazing time with Leo Wright today. We learnt lots about the process of making stop-motion films and enjoyed watching Leo’s animations.

We are so proud of the children for their fantastic carol service.
