Guided Reading:

Read the Badgers (beloew) text and answer the questions below the text. Children may need support sounding out. Look carefully at the words: enemy, insects, setts and properly. Children may find these tricky and sett has a double tt which is different to how we would normally spell it.

There are two texts to read (below). Both are taken from past Key Stage 1 SATs papers. My Brother JJ is a story with questions after each chunk of story. Liam the Park keeper is an information text with questions after the reading.

Encourage children to read back through the text, underline information if they can and work through any tricky words together.

English:

Year 1: Can you write descriptive sentences about the characters in this picture? You might like to choose one at a time to focus on.

Remember to use:

  • Adjectives to describe the nouns
  • A capital letter
  • A full stop
  • S or es ending

E.g. He has ivory horns and a blue football jacket. He is smiliing at me with his pointy teeth. Behind him there is a grumpy lady with sharp brown glasses. Can you guess who I’m describing?

Please Send me one description each on Dojo message and I’ll post them so your friends can guess who each description is like Guess Who.

Year 2: Can you write descriptive sentences to describe the characters in this picture? You might like to choose one at a time to focus on.

Can you use:

  • Adjectives to decribe the nouns?
  • Commas to list adjectives?
  • Spelling rules you’ve been learning

E.g. He’s got three googly yellow eyes that are looing in different directions. His teeth are sharp, uneven and wonky. In front of him there is a monster with a red and yellow hat. He doesn’t have very many teeth but the teeth he has are white, round and worn out.

Please Send me one description each on Dojo message and I’ll post them so your friends can guess who each description is like Guess Who.
