Hi Class 4,

Well it is Wednesday and the weather has been much better this week. I hope that you are managing to get outside and enjoy some fresh air. Thank you to Tansy for sending me a recording of you reading 'The Spider and the Fly'. Also well done to Mason, Cassia and Ryan for sending me your non-chronological reports- they were amazing!

Good luck with today's work, if you need any support with this then please don't hesitate to contact us by email. We have set up a Google Meet on Wednesday 13th May at 11:30 am for Year 6 to have a catch up with us. If successful we will then do the same with Year 5 so if you haven't already done so please get yourself sorted with Google Classroom.

Please remember that 2 hours of work a day is plenty.

Also when you get chance check our class art . I think that it's amazing!

Keep safe.

Miss Davis and Mr Wynn

Mr Wynn has been enjoying this app GoNoodle at home with his children and is really enjoying it. It is a great app with some funny dances on it. The link is https://www.gonoodle.com/good-energy-at-home-kids-games-and-videos/ Why not give it a go and see what you think?

Now you are familiar with the poem I would like to introduce you to figurative language. Figurative language is a way to engage your readers, ushering them through your writing with a more creative tone. This website explains what alliteration, metaphors, similes, onomatopoeia and personification is. I would like you to re-read the poem and try to think of some examples of these types of figurative language for 'The Spider and the Fly'. This website gives some good examples which might help you if you are struggling to think of some ideas.

https://examples.yourdictionary.com/examples-of-figurative-language.html

Try to come up with at least two examples of each type of figurative language- remember these should be powerful and give more depth to your poetry.

We are going to try to look at planning a poem about a predator luring in it's prey like in 'The Spider and the Fly' on Friday.  I would like you to try to think of your own animals that you would like you poem to be about, for example lion and antelope or bird and worm. Please try to research how the animal lures in it's prey and think about the conversation that they could be having like the discussion the spider had with the fly. Making some notes on this might be useful and help you with your poetry planning on Friday.

Thank you Tansy for sending your recording of you reading a part of the Spider and the Fly. This was brilliant- well done!
