(Monday/ Tuesday Grammar focus)

Adding –s or –es to make plurals

When changing a word from singular to plural, you can add –s or –es. E.g. cat=cats, church=churches

The spelling rules is: If a word ends in z, s, ch or sh, add an –es. All others add an s, except for ‘o’ which sometimes needs an –es (potatoes)

Unit title: Poles Apart

The Geography topic for this term is Poles Apart. The objective of this topic is for children to identify the location of hot and cold areas around the world in relation to the Equator and North and South Poles. Below are some progressive activities for this topic but please feel free to be as creative as you would like. I’ve tried to include a mixture of adult led and independent activities.

Activities:

  1. Read the PowerPoint about the Equator and different poles.
  2. Work through the BBC Bitesize page/video about Nigeria in Africa. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zyhp34j/articles/znxp92p
