Image of Autumn Forest School

As we get ready to start the Winter term at St Mary's I wanted to look back at how amazing the children have been with their enthusiasm for our outdoor learning during the Autumn months despite the colder weather.

We have enjoyed creating some natural bunting through the Japanese art of Hapa Zome. Continuing our campaign to save the Hedgehogs the children have learnt how to set up a 'mammal footprint tunnel' to monitor if we have any Hedgehogs visiting the school grounds. We took part in Autumn seed and nut identification sessions so helpfully the children were able to show you what they had learnt during any Autumn walks in the holidays. The younger classes created conker leaf monsters and the older children made conker necklaces or threaded conkers for the traditional game of conkers.

As we are entering the Winter months please can I ask that if the children are taking part in Forest School this term that they all have wellies and waterproof jackets and trousers to keep them warm and dry during their sessions.

With thanks,

Miss Wood
