Here is your home learning for the week commencing Monday 23rd March.

Throughout the week:

Choose some activities from pages 1 and 2 to complete together from the Early Years school closure pack.

Your themed challenge for this week is:

Can you watch the Easter story and discuss it together? How do the people and Jesus feel throughout the story? Can you retell what happened in sequence?

Now can you create an Easter garden to represent the story? You could use anything you like to create this! You might like to paint it, use creative materials, natural resources or lego? Can you make some labels for your Easter garden?

Here is the link to the Easter story:

Nursery- Can you draw your favourite things to do at Easter time? Can you label these things with the initial sound? for example; draw a picture of you on an Easter egg hunt. What sound does egg start with? Can you write the sound? Or ask an adult to write it first and then trace over the top or copy it?

Home learning for Wednesday:

Maths Challenge-

Here is your maths challenge for today! This is for both Reception and Nursery.

You will first need to make some Easter eggs for the challenge. Can you make some blue eggs? red eggs? yellow eggs? green eggs? Repeating pattern eggs?

Then hunt for the eggs around the house and garden! Once you have found them here is the link for the maths activities https://wrm-13b48.kxcdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/homelearning/early-years/Starting-with-a-Story-Egg-Hunt.pdf

Can you count how many eggs you have found in total? sort the eggs? Create a number label for the amount you have found? What if there was one more? one less? Who found more? less? the most? the least? Can you share them fairly between you and your mum or dad? Can you double your eggs? How many do you have now?

Literacy challenge-

Reception- Today we are learning about the air sound in phonics. It’s a trigraph which means it is made up of 3 letters but it makes 1 sound.

First learn more about the air sound here with Geraldine the giraffe. Can you think of a word with the air sound in? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcHIX2xK--A

Next can you draw pictures of things with the air sound in and then label or write a sentence about them? For example; draw a chair and write the word chair or a sentence like ‘It is a pink soft chair.’

Now can you sign into phonicsplay.co.uk. This is free to access at the moment. The user name is march20 and the password is home. Play dragons den. Select the air sound. Read the real and nonsense words with the air sound in. Give the real words to the green dragon and the nonsense words to the red dragon.

Nursery- Today we are learning about the s sound in phonics.

First can you learn more about the s sound with Geraldine. Can you think of anything that starts with a s? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUmUpf-JNoU

Now can you hunt for things that start with a s around your house and garden? What did you find?

Next can you draw some things that start with a s and label them with a s. If you need help, ask your parent to write s for you and you can either trace over the top or copy it.
